Things To Do Before 30

I just turned 28 and have a list of things I'd like to accomplish in my lifetime. Thanks to a fellow twitter buddy, I now have the motivation to put a list together and get off my ass. My inspiration is Amber from Monk and Mao. She has put together a simple, yet fantastic, list on things she wanted to do before thirty. Amber has also updated her list to show what she was able to get done and how. I'm using her format as a starting point and even stole a few of her goals (because they are awesome).

1. Stop using credit cards and start getting myself out of debt.
2. Save at least $1,000 without touching it after I have saved it.
3. Paint my bedroom and home office.
4. Set up a spare bedroom for guests.
5. Start doing yoga at home and keep doing it at least twice a week.
6. Get in shape and stay on shape. Be able to keep up with the little kids while hiking in Boulder.
7. Buy a bicycle and use it frequently.
8. Visit Hanging Lake.
9. Eat something I've grown. (Stolen from Amber, but I've wanted to plant a garden for a few years now)
10. Learn French.
11. Make something functional. (Also taken from Amber. I knitted a wrist cuff for a friend for Christmas, but I'd like to make something bigger.)
12. Ride a train.
13. See the ocean.
14. Visit a new city (US & INT). US: a city in a state I've never visited.
15. Visit my grandmother.

So far, I only have fifteen but I will likely add more.

Months Have Elapsed Since I Last Blogged

I want to blame the lapse in time on being busy, but that just wasn't the case.

Spring semester at college came and went without any hiccups (A in Geology, B in Communications). At the start of summer, it appeared my life was going to be as it was in prior years; however, that all changed in June.

Starting in June, I had major back pain. The pain spread to my neck, jaw, right arm, and right shoulder. I have seen five specialists and have been diagnosed with a separated rib then with fibromyalgia. My neurologist thinks I may also have Lupus (I pray that isn't the case). I am on a plethora of prescription medication and I haven't been able to attend a full work week since about mid-June. I feel absolutely horrible.

I am right handed and the pain has essentially stopped my everyday actions. I can no longer bake, reading for long periods of time hurts and so does typing on my computer. I have taken up riding my exercise bike as the endorphins released in my body help with the pain for a short period of time.

There have been some positive points to my life this year. In two weeks I am moving back to the late shift that I moved from at the beginning of this year, I am so ridiculously happy to work later. I have also started browsing Goodwill and other thrift stores, they have such neat things!

Spring Semester

This semester has not gone well so far. I have no motivation for school and am 1-2 weeks behind in my communications class (I can't even remember how many weeks behind). I don't know why I am being like this but I just can't seem to bring myself to care to do the homework for the class. :(

Other than that, life is going well. I am greatly enjoying my physical geology course, enough that I think I may change my major.. again.

Holiday downtime

It is after Christmas and I am drained. I just arrived back from New Mexico after visiting many members of my family for Christmas. It was a good trip and I greatly liked visiting with my cousins, sisters, and niece.

I am also enjoying my time off from school, not looking forward to next semester!

Saturday Goodness

Well, I am not motivated towards school at all today.  My paper is due tomorrow and I just don't want to do it!

My boyfriend's mother, Kathy, came over today with cookie cutters and sprinkles and we both made dozens of sugar cookies with lots of different color sprinkles; dinosaurs sprinkles too!  Now we are cooking spaghetti with marinara and garlic bread with bruschetta for dinner.  I usually don't cook, but the past month I have been cooking nonstop.

I imagine later tonight I will build up enough motivation to complete the paper.  After this upcoming week, school is done for this semester!  I am so happy!  My birthday is Tuesday also, I love December.

Thanksgiving Morning

Well, I guess it is no longer morning but I stayed up until 3am so it is my morning!  I am listening to great music (Vivaldi) and relaxing because I did my cooking for today the last two days.  It is the first time I have actually cooked for Thanksgiving and I made everything from scratch (well, except the pumpkin puree).  It makes me mighty happy that I actually cooked rolls, cake, cranberry sauce, and potatoes without burning anything and it is all edible!

I hope everyone else has a great day and enjoys their 3,000 calorie Thanksgiving dinner!

Overtime

I honestly don't know how I manage school and work together.  I am working eight hours of overtime tomorrow for some extra holiday money and also doing a lot of projects for my five classes that are due on December 5th.  Oh well, I will manage it.

On a happier note, I am in a better mood this week.  We are almost done with school for this semester and I am only taking three classes next semester.  I have Thanksgiving off and plan on cooking a lot of stuff home made for the first time, hopefully I don't burn it!
